Much of family life is remembered in fleeting fragments - a small hand in yours, the softness of a child’s cheek against your neck or a sudden glimpse of the person they are becoming.
These are often the details that pass most quickly, and yet come to hold the greatest meaning with time. When you are immersed in the everydayness of family life, it is easy to be the one behind the camera, or to let these moments go unrecorded altogether.

Family portraits on location
Photographing families outdoors offers a different kind of magic, the richness of woodland, the softness of long grass in late summer, the glow of autumn colour, or the wide, windswept calm of dunes and shoreline.
We will choose a place that feels meaningful to you, or simply one whose landscape and light provide the right setting for your family. The session itself is relaxed and unhurried, allowing time to wander, to pause, and to make portraits that feel natural, atmospheric, and true to you.
I tend to photograph either early or late in the day when the light has the greatest depth and gentleness.
Based in Wiltshire, I undertake commissions throughout the South of England, London and internationally.
For families who spend time away, sessions can also be arranged at a much-loved second home or while on holiday, allowing the portraits to be made in places already woven into your family life.
Portraits made within your own home hold a quiet authenticity that cannot be replicated elsewhere. Over time, it is often these familiar surroundings - the rooms, rituals, and details of everyday family life - that become most precious, preserving not only how this chapter looked, but how it felt to live within it.
My approach is calm, observant, and unhurried, allowing space to get to know your children and the character of your family so that the resulting portraits feel natural, thoughtful, and deeply personal.

Pregnancy and new parenthood mark a profound and fleeting passage in family life. Much of what makes this time so memorable lies in its quieter details, anticipation, tenderness, physical change, and the intimate rhythms of the earliest days with a new baby, all of which pass with extraordinary speed.
Maternity and newborn sessions are created to preserve something of that time with honesty and tenderness - from the expectancy of pregnancy to the intimacy of life with a new baby. The focus is always on connection, atmosphere, and the new relationships taking shape between you, your baby, and any older siblings.

Extended family gatherings
When several generations of a family are together, it can be an exceptional opportunity to create portraits of real significance. Multi-generational sessions can be photographed by arrangement, with a focus on natural interaction as well as carefully composed portraits of the family as a whole.
