About Gemma
I can't remember a time when photography has not been part of my life. From my first Instamatic camera at the age of eight, to my Dad's lifelong obsession with camera kit (who terrorised every camera shop proprietor in the South of England), an ongoing dalliance with modelling, a degree in multimedia and my first career as a web developer - cameras have always been there.
My first photography commissions, back in 2010 were family portraits, and photographing children is still very close to my heart. Boudoir and commercial photography have since entered the fold, but I'm happiest when there is a person in front of my lens - my passion for portrait photography is rooted in the lasting relationships I build with my clients and helping them build confidence in front of the camera. Trust sits at the core of what I do and I'm very passionate about it.
I use my skills to support charitable causes whenever I can - having been involved in several fundraising projects, most recently photographing The Rack Pack breast cancer calendar, a cause close to my heart, as well as a firefighters calendar and my 2020 lockdown portrait series Children of Salisbury have been particular highlights and my work has taken me to some fascinating places. I've even photographed a torpedo. Yes really.
I know I've had a good shoot if I'm either filthy dirty or my beloved waders have had an outing. I always seem to find myself in water just like my bonkers spaniel - are dogs like their owners or owners like their dogs? Never quite sure.
I’ve been incredibly lucky to experience some of the most jaw-dropping places on Earth. I’ve watched the sun set on Mount Everest, tracked the Milky Way from the middle of the ocean and seen the morning sun turn the Alpine mountains into a white sea of diamonds. I’ve jumped off turquoise waterfalls in the Grand Canyon and my adventurous spirit is always looking for new challenges and explorations.
But as much as the wonders of our big blue planet feed my soul, the smaller pleasures closer to home bring simpler, but just as special, meaning. A snuggle on the sofa with my kids (though it takes a little more bribery these days), a really good bar of chocolate or the pure indulgence of a back scratch.
So that's me. Tell me about you...

I'M AN ADVENTURER, LOVER OF HUGS & PURVEYOR OF TERRIBLE JOKES

What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
